South Capitol Park

Project: Rehabilitation of South Capitol Park, Harrisburg, PA

2018 Merit Award for Historic Preservation

Presented to Hord Coplan Macht

Congratulations to Hord Coplan Macht, for their Rehabilitation of South Capitol Park project in Harrisburg, PA for winning a 2018 Merit Award in Historic Preservation! The park dates from the early 1800’s. The original layout is not attributed to a known designer, but the park is the oldest and most utilized portion of the capitol grounds. While certain areas were altered over time, a majority of the historical configuration was intact. The design restored historic features and proposed new compatible enhancements for improved visitor access, experience and sustainability.
