Project: Garden Gateway- Brookside Gardens Entrance and Parking Renovation
2018 Honor Award for Built Design
Presented to M-NCPPC Montgomery Parks, Park Development Division
Congratulations to Montgomery Parks, Park Development Division, for receiving the Honor Award for their project, “Garden Gateway” – Brookside Gardens Entrance and Parking Renovation, in Built Design! The project renovated a deficient entrance and parking facility for a public garden which serves a dense, multi-ethnic community in Wheaton, Maryland. The landscape architect-led team steered the project from utilitarian solutions to a holistic design approach, thereby creating functional and inspiring places. The team actively advocated for stakeholders’ support and effectively raised funds from private donors to close funding gaps. Planting was made possible by phasing, creative sourcing and collaborative volunteer efforts.
