About Our Search

Our Landscape Architecture studio is looking for an energetic and creative Landscape Designer to join the Landscape Architecture studio. This individual will have experience managing projects, and possess excellent communication, design, technical, graphic and visualization skills. This individual will be organized and enjoy collaborating with multi-disciplinary design teams.

About the Position

• Collaborate in generating design solutions and design development with a lens on sustainable design principles
• Create site analysis diagrams,site plan and sectional graphics and 3D renderings to represent and communicate design ideas
• Assist in preparing  design presentations for clients, communities and jurisdictional reviews.
• Assist in planning, preparing and advancing construction documents from Entitlement and Concept Design through Permit and Issued for Construction, including material research and the development and refinement of construction detailing.
• Proactively collaborate with project consultants and clients to facilitate and advance the design process and coordinate consultant drawings.
• Assist with construction administration/observation.

About You 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture required. Licensure is a plus.
• 5-8 years of experience practicing Landscape Architecture
• Experience and/or interest in a variety of project types in various market sectors and at various scales.
• Experience in the organization, preparation and advancement of construction documents.
• Excellent design, graphic and presentation skills
• Passionate about the profession and willingness to work in a collaborative and deadline driven environment.
• Strong design and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Lumion and hand graphics.  Experience with Rhino, LandFX, Enscape3d, Revit, D5 Render, Pathfinder 3.0 for carbon analysis is a Plus.

Responsibilities

· Develop conceptual design and story boards

· Prepare studies and reports

· Research and evaluate sustainable and resiliency practices

· Assist with design and detail projects for constructability including parks and trails, site plans, plaza, streetscapes, K-12, higher education, integrated stormwater management and transportation projects.

· Conduct project site visits to verify construction activities, gather data, coordinate with project team, and to inspect materials.

· Collaborate with an interdisciplinary in-house project teams of civil engineers, planners, transportation engineers, water resource engineers, surveyors, and construction inspection specialists.

· Prepare visually appealing and informative graphics as part of project communications and proposal and marketing pursuits

· Utilize AutoCAD, Microstation, and GIS software and file sharing technologies.

· Assist with field investigation and reporting on integrated roadside vegetation management, forest mitigation, critical area mitigation, wetland mitigation, and storm water management facilities.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelors or Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university

· 1-4  years’ experience in landscape architecture

· Experience with VA and MD codes and guidelines for design

· Proficiency in AutoCAD

· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

· Experience in Sketch-Up, Revit or other 3D modelling software

· Experience with ArcGIS

Requirements

The Assistant Project Manager oversees small projects from design concept stage through construction documents, bidding, and construction management, to close out and turn over to clients and operations and maintenance (O&M) personnel. S/he assists existing project management staff with medium to large projects. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Capital Projects, Planning and Facilities Management, additional duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provide coordination of project teams composed of clients, consultant architects and engineers, construction managers, contractors, O&M personnel, contracting specialists, and fellow project managers.
• Review accuracy project approvals from internal University entities, appropriate government agencies, and community interest groups.
• Track adherence to project budgets, schedules, GU campus plan, quality and code standards. Aid the project management team during the performance of project design reviews and on-site inspections of all aspects of assigned projects.
• Help resolve problems involving the principles or practice of conceptual planning within the context of campus planning.
• Provide written reports, documentation, plan revisions, and database updates to ensure the timely communication of all project updates.
• Perform special project activities requiring application of technical expertise as necessary for the completion of a project.
• Coordinate all project design issues with Georgetown clients as well as appropriate staff counterparts in the other Planning and Facilities Management areas, the Department of Public Safety, the Office of University Information Services, and representatives from Student Affairs and Residential Living.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree; Degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or Landscape Architecture, or Construction/ Project Management degrees preferred
• 1 – 3 ears of progressively responsible experience managing the design, construction and contract administration of facilities renovations and new construction
• Must be computer literate with general knowledge of CADD, Microsoft Project, or other software Microsoft Office and Google Workspaces fluency
• High level of interpersonal skills for daily interaction with faculty and staff, clients, GU managers, team members, and public agency officials
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially via phone and Zoom
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, a variety of matrices, oral presentations and code analyses

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 – $87,558.13
